Physical:
Desert Salve is formulated with the intention of mitigating the effects of habitating alongside the Salton Sea, or anywhere in dry desert climates. The dust that is kicked up when the wind blows is quick to dry up the skin; it carries with it salt and silt, giving way to burning lips and itchy skin.
Desert Salve is created using the traditional folk method, utilizing the intense sun of Bombay Beach to extract herbs that are soothing to the skin. Use this salve for dry lips and hands, cuts, burns, insect bites and stings, and rashes. It is made with herbs of mullein, yellow dock, calendula, comfrey, yarrow, and plantain.
Energetic:
The basin at the southern end of California that is Bombay Beach is seen and perceived in many ways. For many it is a portal. For some it is the only place in the world that is not plugged in to the simulation. Many come here in response to prophetic dreams. The Salton Sea has been observed to be the base of the spine of California, where kundalini energy swirls and gathers. Shared visions arise of shadowy figures in the night. Strange lights flash in the sky and sea.
While perception varies, we can collectively conclude that the energy here vibrates at a unique intensity. Summers are especially brutal, when many fight hard to keep at bay the demons of the heat which seem to try to infect the brain like a virus. In the desert we may find ourselves at the edge of the abyss, staring and screaming right into the void. We may come face to face with a mirror so clear and excruciatingly bright that we have to fight to hold on to our sanity.
This intensity can give way to revelations, revolution of the spirit, victory. It is up to us, desert dwellers and wanderers, to choose the courage and faith to win.
